However, James told reporters Monday night after his Cleveland Cavaliers’ 129-100 Game 5 loss to the Golden State Warriors, that he doesn’t believe he’s been part of a superteam dating back to his days with the Miami Heat.
“I don’t believe I played for a superteam,” he said, according to NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin. “I don’t believe in that.
I was rooting for LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 for a couple of reasons. 1. I wasn’t ready for the NBA season to end so I wanted a 7-game series. 2. Kevin Durant is a bitch. But now after seeing this quote in which LeBron claims he doesn’t ‘believe’ in superteams, I’m back to hating LeBron.
The term ‘superteam’ was created because of LeBron James going on television and saying he’s taking his talents to South Beach to play alongside two All-Stars, Dwanye Wade and Chris Bosh. That team walked their way to the NBA Finals every single season.
With that being said, superteams make the NBA more interesting. If Kevin Love was still on the Minnesota Timberwolves and Kevin Durant was still in Oklahoma City, this year’s NBA Finals would have been significantly less interesting.
Everyone and their mothers love Dirk Nowitzki and having him go up against the evil Miami Heat and win made the 2011 NBA Finals so much more exciting. Superteams are good for the NBA. The Super Bowl is more watchable when you’re rooting against the New England Patriots. I’m a Yankees fan and I will proudly say I loved those early 2000 superteams.
But for LeBron to say that he doesn’t believe in superteams is outrageous. I’m ready for the offseason. I can’t do LeBron nonsense quotes anymore. I’m getting angry just thinking about it. Now I have to go watch clips of Kristaps working on his low post game to get this disgusting LeBron taste out of my mouth.
