Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji star Karen Gillan has signed on to topline Gunpowder Milkshake, an action thriller from Studiocanal and The Picture Company.
Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, the duo behind the dark Israeli breakout Big Bad Wolves, are directing the project. The pair also wrote the script with Ehud Lavski.
Plot details are being kept muzzled, but the pic is described as being in the assassin genre with a story that spans multiple generations. The entire cast is envisioned as being all-female, with Gillan the cornerstone.
Kill Bill, the opus by Big Bad Wolves fan Quentin Tarantino, and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver are the touchstones of the project, with “stylish,” “snappy” and “violent” its watchwords.
I have no idea what a ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’ is but I need one immediately and I need it served to me by Karen Gillan and thankfully, that is happening.
An assassin movie that’s inspired by Kill Bill and Baby Driver? Where do I buy tickets?
Plus, the world needs more Karen Gillan but like, not playing the robot daughter of Thanos and actually portraying a human woman that will also murder you.
But at the end of the day, the only reason why this movie news caught my eye at all is because of it’s name. If this movie was called ‘Spy Wars’ or whatever the fuck then it’s safe to say that I’d go back to watching Eli Manning Super Bowl highlights and I wouldn’t even care about this.
But Gunpowder Milkshake?? Yup, I’m seeing this movie twice opening weekend regardless of quality.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you’re hyped for Gunpowder Milkshake exclusively because of the name. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Follow on Instagram so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
