“Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington secretly checked into luxury rehab for stress and alcohol use ahead of the show’s ending, which “really hit him hard,” multiple sources have exclusively confirmed to Page Six.
Exhausted Harington, 32, who played Jon Snow on the hit HBO series for eight years, has been at luxury Connecticut health retreat Privé-Swiss for nearly a month, arriving weeks before the show’s finale on May 19, Page Six has learned.
The British actor has been undergoing psychological coaching, practicing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat stress and deal with negative emotions at the facility, which costs over $120,000 a month. (Source)
Wow David Benioff and DB Weiss continue to ruin the Game of Thrones legacy with awful storytelling choices in a rushed finale. These guys have no idea what they’re doing.
If you told me a decade ago that Jon Snow’s story would end with him killing Daenerys Targaryen, I would’ve been HYPED to watch every week and see how these two people on opposite sides of the Earth with zero power or influence, somehow not only get into the same room together but end up murdering one another.
But if you told me there were 40 minutes after that in the finale where Jon gets arrested, sent to the Night’s Watch as a punishment for killing Daenerys and then ends up in an extravagant rehab facility, then I would’ve canceled my HBO subscription in 2012. Sorry, Big Little Lies.
And I don’t want to hear ‘well, George RR Martin told the showrunners that Jon was going to end up there’. Enough with that. You still need to write a compelling story to lead us from point A to point B.
It doesn’t matter if George said that Bran The Broken is king at the end. Nothing in the show hinted at that destination.
You could make the argument that Jon having two girlfriends die in his arms could lead to substance abuse and yes, that Aegon Targaryen news could cause a reaaaal identity crisis but still.
Bu at the end of the day, I just wish Jon Snow CHOSE to go to rehab at the end instead of being forced to go. Give Jon some agency.
Season 8 was truly a disaster.
