John Cena has nabbed a lead role in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee.
Hailee Steinfeld is leading the cast of Paramount’s new film, which will center on the yellow and black bot Bumblebee. The pic will feature a young cast including Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny.
The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.
So I don’t want to stand up and be that guy who complains about movie continuities but I take Transformers very seriously. My man Michael Bay created art and I’m not going to let some new director step up and destroy everything Bay built.
In the OG Transformers movie, the Autobots were just arriving. If you recall, Bumblebee’s vocal chords were destroyed and he could only speak via the car radio. Are you trying to tell me that he’s actually been around since 1987 just chillin with former WWF World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena? Seems fishy.
Having said that, I will be seeing this movie opening day exclusively because I want to see John Cena body slam Megatron. Just as the prophecy foretold.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you’re hyped to see John Cena punch a Transformer in the face. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
