The Chicago Cubs won the World Series and blah blah. That’s not the biggest news of the MLB season. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool that the Cubbies finally won a chip but that’s minor compared to the real story: Joe Maddon ruining Aroldis Chapman’s arm.
Maddon’s use of Chapman is Game 5 made me nervous. The Cubs sent Aroldis in during the 7th inning and asked him to make an 8-out save. During this 3 inning outing, Chapman launched 42 pitches. At that point, I was suspicious of Maddon but just figured he was desperate for a win and used his best pitcher. Whatever.
But what the fuck was up with Chapman coming into Game 6 while they were already up a bajillion runs? In Game 6 he threw an addition 20 pitches in a 9-3 win over the Indians. Why would you use Aroldis after he pitched 3 innings the night before and you’re up a touchdown?
Joe Maddon will forever be a Tampa Bay Devil Ray in my brain. This was a straight up deliberate shot at New York. The story after Chapman was traded to the Cubs was that he would 1000% resign with the Yankees after the season was over.
Dear MLB, I need Maddon to be reprimanded for his blatant tampering.
