BUTLER: The most interesting detail of that whole scrimmage, that nobody knows? I only shot the ball once. I only shot the ball one time. I only shot the ball once.
REDICK: But every quote coming out of there was, like, Jimmy was getting buckets and he was dominating.
BUTLER: Oh, I was dominating. But I only shot the ball once. Dimes. Boom, boom, boom. Steals. Blocks. I only shot the ball one time.
Jimmy Butler went on JJ Redick’s podcast this week to shed more light on what actually happened in his finals days in Minnesota before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
To recap, Jimmy Butler demanded a trade in the summer. The T-Wolves didn’t trade him and continued to demand him to return to the team and come practice. So after being forced to practice, Jimmy showed up late, grabbed the third stringers and beat the Starting 5 in a scrimmage while screaming ‘you fucking need me’ at the GM and head coach.
Well, Jimmy wanted to add a very important detail.
Not only did he run the starting 5 out of the gym but he ONLY SHOT THE BALL ONCE. My man was just stopping Wiggins on defense and dishing out assists like John Stockton out there and then hopped on a plane to Philly.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have played better since trading Jimmy Butler but after finding out that they got embarrassed this badly by Jimmy and he ONLY SHOT THE BALL ONCE, I can say with complete confidence that Minnesota isn’t going to make the playoffs anytime soon.
