Jerry West, who spent the last six years as a special consultant with the Golden State Warriors, is leaving the reigning NBA champions to take a similar job with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Sports Illustrated’s Jack McCallum.
This is sneaky huge news for the future of the NBA. Jerry West is responsible for the Golden State Warriors dynasty that we’re in the midst of. The Warriors have been to three straight NBA Finals and they will most likely win the next two upcoming cups.
West drafted this team. He selected Draymond Green when no one else would. He through himself in front of the car when the team wanted to trade Klay Thompson for Kevin Love. West dragged Kevin Durant into the shadows and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Now the human NBA Logo is bringing his talents back to Los Angeles which means one thing and one thing only: The Clippers are going to win a chip in the next 5 years. This is a huge offseason for the team with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and JJ Redick off the books. This is the perfect time for West to come in and build.
Plus, just throwing this out there, LeBron James has said he wants to play in Los Angeles in 2018. Just something to think about.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Jerry West is going to save the Los Angeles Clippers. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
