So I’ll start off by saying that I’m not really into the idea of Star Wars spin-off movies. After Episode 9, I’m completely okay with never seeing a new Star Wars movie ever again. But unfortunately, Disney now owns the rights to Star Wars sooo we’re going to be seeing a new movie every year until our hearts stop beating.
After seeing Rogue One A Star Wars Story, which was fine or whatever, I can’t help but think that if we’re going to be forced to see Star Wars spin-off movies then the only character who deserves their own movie is sitting right under our nose.
I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I don’t think I’m surprising anyone when I say that Vader was a bad ass monster in his limited screen time. Force chokes for days. My only take away from Rogue One was that I could’ve watched Darth Vader for another like, 6 hours.
We’re getting a young Han Solo movie in 2018 that no one on the planet asked for, ever. Let’s throw in a Vader solo movie. You don’t have to recast some random young actor that looks nothing like the original one because he wears a mask the whole time. James Earl Jones’ voice is still around to read lines. It’s perfect.
The only real question is where this movie would take place in the timeline. I think this solo movie should be Darth Vader hunting Jedi after Revenge of the Sith. In Rogue One, the rebel soldiers are straight up terrified of that man. Why not have a full movie dedicated to building the lore of Darth Vader. How did he become the baddest man in the galaxy?
Is it time for a Darth Vader solo movie? Absolutely.
