We’ve known for a while now that Universal has been angling to launch its very own universe based off its stable of monster properties, but today the studio named its budding franchise that will kick off with this summer’s The Mummy. It will be known as the Dark Universe—not to be confused with DC’s Dark Universe—and will officially continue with a Bill Condon directed Bride Of Frankenstein, set for release on Valentine’s Day 2019. How romantic. While casting for the eponymous role has yet to be announced, the current stars posed for a portrait, including: The Mummy’s Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella; Johnny Depp, who will be The Invisible Man; and Javier Bardem, scheduled to play Frankenstein’s Monster.

Sooo Universal films is attempting to create their own Marvel Cinematic Universe using all of their old monster movie properties and they are trying to trick us by stuffing A-List actors in our face. Universal knows I love Tom Cruise and Javier Bardem.
I have no idea how Universal tricked these actors into starring in this film.[1. $$$$$$$$] You can almost see the gun being held to Russell Crowe’s back in that photo. Also, how about Universal casting Johnny Depp, a man who’s photo is hanging from lockers across the globe, as the ‘Invisible Man’.
Aw, the Bride of Frankenstein will come out on Valentine’s Day. I can’t wait to not watch it.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you actually hyped for this Dark Universe. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
