The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami told Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post on his podcast, Posting Up, that both he and Marcus Thompson of The Athletic believe the Golden State Warriors will make a strong push to sign superstar Paul George next summer (h/t Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk):
“Marcus and I have teased this for more than a year. We think they’re going to go after Paul George, somehow. I think Joe Lacob is going to try to find a way to get Paul George. I don’t know how that would happen, but I didn’t know how it was going to happen when they were—three years ago, when they said they were go after Durant. Well, they didn’t say it. But they might have whispered it.”
Warriors in 3.
If the Golden State Warriors can somehow keep Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green AND sign Paul George they will be the greatest team ever formed in the regular season. They are for sure going 82-0 and no team will even come close to competing.
I hate the Warriors right now but if they go full heel and sign the best player available again next summer then they’re going to quickly become my new favorite. You have to respect this franchise just saying ‘fuck competition’ and everyone deciding to take pay cuts to beat LeBron’s brains in.
The best aspect of this story is that this would be the second time a star forward has left Russell Westbrook for dead in Oklahoma City while they run to Oakland to defeat the Thunder by 200 points 4 times a year. Which means one thing and one thing only: Westbrook is going for quadruple-doubles in 2018. Stay Tuned.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you want to see Paul George in a Golden State Warriors jersey. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
