The Cleveland Browns had one of the most disappointing 2019 seasons. Baker Mayfield won Rookie of the Year in 2018. The Browns stole Olivier Vernon and Odell Beckham from the Giants. Anddd the Browns went 6-10 with their star defensive player getting suspended for the season after murdering a Steelers fraternity legend.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that failure and are now predicting they’ll make the playoffs again. But there was an underrated signing that people seemed to ignore and it’s about to lead to a hilarious Baker Mayfield storyline next season.

Last season, Keenum played 10 games for Washington. He threw for 1,709 yards with 11 TDs and 6 interceptions before their season was over and it was time to see if Dwayne Haskins could play.
[Narrator voice] He could not.
Obviously it appears as though Case was signed to be Baker’s backup and I’m sure he’ll start the season as QB2.
But teams don’t acquire Keenum for him to sit on the bench. He’s started at least 2 games every season of his career. There are 32 teams in the league and he’s the unofficial 33rd starter. It’s like when you play football as a kid with an uneven number of kids so you assign a designated quarterback.
Case completed a higher percentage of his passes and, ya know, didn’t throw 21 interceptions like Baker did last season. We saw what happened when you give Baker Mayfield weapons like Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. They win 6 games.
But man, can you imagine if Case Keenum had those weapons?
You don’t have to imagine too hard because in 2017, Keeum played 15 games with the Vikings throwing to Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. He threw for 3,547 yards with 22 touchdowns and 7.4 yards per attempt. (Baker had 7.2 yards per attempt last year.)
Minnesota went 11-3 with Case as the starter and they were one game away from the Super Bowl if it weren’t for the great Nick Foles.
But here’s the best part: Case’s offensive coordinator in Minnesota was Kevin Stefanski, who is now the Cleveland Browns head coach.
Guys, Case Keenum is playing quarterback for the Cleveland Browns this season. John Dorsey—the GM that drafted Baker—is gone. Freddie Kitchens—the man who was hired as head coach simply because Baker liked him—is gone.
The Browns organization has no ties to Baker Mayfield. As I write this, there are two former No. 1 draft pick quarterbacks without a job. Three if you count JaMarcus Russell. Baker Mayfield is going to join that prestigious list after Case Keenum snatches his chain this season.
BAHAHAHA @ Baker.
