Gary Sanchez is going to have a left shoulder surgery, Cashman says. Still expected to be ready for Opening Day. Has been dealing with problem for a while. #Yankees

Are you worried? I’m totally not worried? Are you? Because I am fine and not freaking out that now both the Yankees star shortstop AND star catcher are starting the regular season on the disabled list with fluke injuries.
No. Worries. Aqui.
Your shoulder has been hurting since 2017? Same. I’m pretty sure I tore my rotator cuff like, 10 years ago trying to lift something not very heavy at the gym when I had no idea what I was doing. But you don’t see me getting shoulder surgery and missing all of Spring Training. Don’t be selfish, Gary.
Is the sky falling in New York?
There are two ways to look at this.
At the end of his rookie season, Aaron Judge came out and revealed that he had a shoulder injury and if you recall, he had one of the worst slumps in MLB history. Then he got shoulder surgery and although he’s not fully back to what he was in the first half of his rookie season, he is no longer swinging and missing at fastballs.
Gary Sanchez had one of the worst hitting seasons I’ve ever witnessed. Let’s say it was the result of a bum shoulder. After it gets patched up, we might see that Gary Sanchez that emerged in 2016 when he hit 20 homers in just 53 games and ran Brian McCann‘s bitch ass out of town.
On the other side of the coin, the Yankees are missing Didi Gregorius and now Gary Sanchez for opening day. They went from one of the most stacked lineups in the league to having a backup catcher and backup middle infielder out there probably going 0-for-8 more often than not.
But again, I am not worried at all.
Wait until Brian Cashman throws the biggest bag in MLB history to Bryce Harper and forces him to play catcher. The Giancarlo Stanton deal came out of the clouds last winter. We’re going to blink and all of a sudden Buster Posey is wearing pinstripes.
Everything is fine.
