Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather will fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a much-discussed boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, a well-placed source told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday.
Mayweather and McGregor both confirmed the fight on social media on Wednesday.
According to UFC president Dana White, the fight will be at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be contested at 154 pounds. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to put on a boxing card on Aug. 26 at the MGM Grand. The venue could change, however, to T-Mobile.
Looks like the biggest fight of all time is finally happening. You can’t tell from just reading that previous sentence but I am being extremely sarcastic when I write that. This fight is going to be just like every Floyd Mayweather fight ever. Nothing is going to happen and it’ll be a snoozefest.
Ah, August 26th. Classic time for a major fight. Everyone will be heading to Las Vegas at the end of summer when it;s 124 degrees out with that great dry humidity. I’m getting dehydrated just thinking about.[1. I also haven’t had water in like, 3 years.] Perfect time for a marque event.
Everyone prepare yourself for weeks upon weeks of ‘debate’ about who will win this fight. Here is the truth: Conor McGregor doesn’t stand a chance but that doesn’t matter. Two men at the height of their sports are going to cash in on their biggest pay days possible before their window closes. Winning and losing is a non-factor.
