The New York Knicks hired Steve Stoute as a ‘brand consultant’ to help improve the organization’s public perception which is an incredibly dumb sentence because the Knicks are the most financially valuable team in the NBA and their brand is quite literally the only reason why anyone buys tickets to see Kevin Knox shoot 0-for-9 from the field in a 30-point blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on a random Wednesday.
Steve Stoute is credited for making the Brooklyn Nets ‘cool’ and only Knicks owner, James Dolan, would hire Stoute after his work with that team that thinks those Coogi jersey designs look good.
The rest of us who do not live in kazoo-blasting echo chambers recognize that the Nets are in no way cool. Their court looks like the setting of a division II Texas Southern A&M State West buzzer-beater over St. Ohio Tech that you catch as you’re falling asleep watching Sportscenter at 1am.
The Knicks need brand guru went on ESPN’s First Take on Tuesday morning to do what Knicks employees do best: embarrass the Knicks.
“there had to be a change in [firing team president Steve Mills]. That change will bring a new coach and new coaches that are going to help develop these younger players.”
He added: “Having a coach like that who has the magnitude and gravitas so that the media would love to talk to him and believe him, I think that’s super important.”
Ah yes, Steven from marketing went on TV and said that the organization is going to fire their head coach.
The fuck is going on?
Why is this music executive that got his ass beat by Puff Daddy in the 90’s speaking with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman about the Knicks personnel decisions even though I’m pretty sure his only job is to like, come up with cool alternative Nike jerseys and better halftime shows?
Whose decision was it to let this man appear on television? The Knicks are the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference. The fuck is the purpose of this press tour? No one is interviewing members of the Cleveland Cavaliers front office. Shit, no is talking to anyone in the Milwaukee Bucks front office and they’re the best team by miles.
Why in the fuck is Steve Stoute—the Knicks expensive social media manager—deciding who the head coach of the team is?

Knicks PR had to come out with a statement telling all of us to disregard Stoute’s comments which is ironic because I’m pretty sure Steve Stoute runs the Knicks PR Twitter account SO HE SHOULDN’T BE PERSONALLY FIRING THE COACH ON TV.
What makes this situation so frustrating is how well Mike Miller is coaching and how everyone in the Knicks front office is constantly proving that they do not understand anything about basketball.
Mike Miller took over a 4-18 team from grown up Milhouse, David Fizdale.
The New York Knicks are 13-16 in their last 29 games coached by Miller which is 7th in the Eastern Conference during that stretch.
The Knicks were 13-69 in Dave Fizdale’s final 82 games. In a full 82-game sample, Fizdale won 13 games. Mike Miller won 13 games in a month and a half. How do you disregard this progress he’s making with the awful players you gave him?
I have no idea if new president of basketball, Leon Rose, has watched a single Knicks game this season and I can say with complete confidence that Steve Stoute has not and now the best coach that the Knicks have had since Pat Riley in the 90’s, is going to lose his job and the cycle of trash coaches and head-scratching roster decisions will continue until I die.
I hate it here.
