Every NBA Team’s Best Giannis Trade Offer

Giannis Antetokounmpo has a year left on his contract and although he made it quite clear that he’s not going anywhere and will most likely spend his entire career in Milwaukee but who cares? Let’s wildly speculate about where he’s going to next.

Giannis is the reigning MVP, 4-time All-Star and was All-NBA First Team last season after being All-NBA Second Team the two seasons prior. He’s also only 25-years old and could easily end 2020 with another MVP trophy, a Defensive Player of the Year trophy and an NBA Championship.

Again, he’s only 25.

Disclaimer: I attempted to make the contracts match because salary caps and blah blah but I’m a dumb person and probably messed that up. Also gave up really focusing on it towards the end but you get it. It’s a vibe.

Here is every NBA team’s best Giannis trade offer:

Atlanta Hawks: Clint Capela, John Collins, DeAndre Hunter, Kevin Huerter, 2020, 2021 1st Round Draft Picks

This is what you tank for. So that you have a crop of potential pieces and draft picks to send over for a superstar. The Milwaukee Bucks can plug all these guys in next to Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe and stay at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Boston Celtics: Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart, Memphis 2020 1st Round Draft Pick, 2021 1st Round Draft Pick for Giannis and Ersan Illysova

You do not get to keep your best young players. I’ve seen trade packages that don’t involve Jayson Tatum and I have no idea why the Bucks would trade Giannis to Boston of all places and not take back Tatum.

Brooklyn Nets: Kyrie Irving, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, 2020 1st Round Draft Pick for Giannis and Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez is going to be added to a few of these deals to make the money match which might seem like a mistake to add a quality starting center along with Giannis but Brook’s shooting numbers fell off a cliff this season and Milwaukee is stuck with him until 2023.

Charlotte Hornets: Terry Rozier, Devonte Graham, Malik Monk, Miles Bridges, PJ Washington and fucking every first round draft pick

Jesus, this is the worst roster in the NBA. What in the fuck is Michael Jordan doing? Nicolas Batum and Giannis have the same salary. My stummy hurt. Literally none of these players are good. The only reason I can think for Milwaukee to accept this deal is knowing that Giannis would never sign a longterm deal and all those draft picks will be in the Top 3.

Chicago Bulls: Coby White, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter, Thaddeus Young 2020, 2021 First Round Draft Picks

On paper it would seem 20 point per game scorer Zach LaVine should be included in this trade but his high volume scoring on bad teams would add nothing to Milwaukee. Eric Bledsoe and Coby White is a much more dangerous backcourt.

Also, fire Jim Boylen. How is this man still a head coach?

Cleveland Cavaliers: Cedi Osman, Collin Sexton, Kevin Porter, Darius Garland, Larry Nance, 2020, 2021 First Round Draft Picks For Giannis and Marvin Williams

I’ve seen so many clips of Collin Sexton looking LOST on defense

Did you know Kevin Love makes $30 million until 2023? That man will never be traded.

Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway Jr, 2020 First Round Draft Pick

This was tough. I wanted to send Porzingis but the Mavericks simply do not have enough young pieces that a franchise can build around outside of Luka Doncic so trading Kristaps for Giannis straight up would force Adam Silver to step in and make an executive veto.

Obviously if you’re Dallas, you don’t make this move unless you know Giannis is re-signing longterm considering that Luka showed up and instantly turned this team into a title contender. Buuuut yea, Giannis is better.

Denver Nuggets: Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr, 2022 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

I just looked at Jamal Murray’s contract and legitimately laughed out loud. He’s going from $4 million this season to $29 million next season and $36 million in 2023. HAHAHAHA. That kid will both never be traded and never be good enough to live up to making Russell Westbrook money.

Nikola Jokic is the superstar on the move here and I’d love to see what he’d do on Milwaukee’s ready made championship team with the team leading the league in 3-point shooting. Plus, I get the feeling more people in the city of Milwaukee agree with MPJ’s politics.

Detroit Pistons: Blake Griffin for Giannis(??)

I literally had to take a break from my computer after looking at the Pistons player contracts. They only have one talented player and everyone else is cheap and will be out of the NBA in two years so I don’t know, man. Just assume the Pistons won’t be making any trades anytime soon.

Golden State Warriors: Andrew Wiggins Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Eric Paschall, Both theirs and Minnesota’s first round draft picks

There is this odd or lazy belief around NBA media that the Warriors are somehow going to be able to flip Andrew Wiggins for Giannis because they both score 20 points per game or something? Wiggins is one of the least valuable players in the league when you match his contract with what he actually does on a court which is absolutely NOTHING unless he has the ball in his hands which he rarely does because he’s usually standing in the corner with his hands in his pockets.

Wiggins is so bad that the Wolves had to throw in their own first round draft picks just for Golden State to take his bitch ass off their hands. Why would the Bucks want Wiggins instead of Giannis? I’d rather let Giannis walk in free agency then being stuck with Wiggins until 2023.

Houston Rockets: Eric Gordon, Robert Covington, PJ Tucker, Austin Rivers, Ben McLemore, Take However Many First Round Picks You Need for Giannis

Last season, the Rockets attempted a simular trade with Minnesota in exchange for Jimmy Butler. I say you run that deal right back and bring it to Milwaukee’s front door. Milwaukee has a No. 1 seed caliber roster and adding these types of role players would maintain their spot at the top of the East.

James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Giannis vs. Everyone.

Indiana Pacers: Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, TJ Leaf, 2020, 2021 First Round Draft Picks for Giannis and Brook Lopez

This one is tough considering Victor Oladipo will also be a free agent in 2021 with Giannis so it’s not ideal to acquire a one-year rental that could leave if you’re afraid your star will leave. Just keep your own star. Also doesn’t make sense to trade for Malcolm Brogdan knowing you let him go in free agency for a reason.

giannis trade

Los Angeles Clippers: Kawhi Leonard for Giannis

Personally, I think Kawhi is a better and far more complete basketball player than Giannis and Milwaukee should probably throw in the first round pick here to sweeten the deal but if you’re reading this, it’s also important for me to point out that it’s 4am and I saved the Los Angeles teams for last and I have nothing more to say. My brain is leaking. Why did I decide to write this?

Los Angeles Lakers: Anthony Davis for Giannis

FEED ME LEBRON JAMES AND GIANNIS VS. KAWHI LEONARD AND PAUL GEORGE. MAKE ALL 82 GAMES LAKERS VS CLIPPERS.

Also, I’d like to imagine the Lakers would offer to throw in Kyle Kuzma and Milwaukee would hang up the phone immediately forcing them to call back several times as the Bucks cool off from being wildly disrespected.

Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant, Justice Winslow, Jaren Jackson, 2021 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

Ja Morant is about to be a Top 10 point guard going forward and Jaren Jackson replaces any of Giannis’s defense at the rim. You’re taking the best part of the 8th seed Western Conference team and adding it to the first place Eastern Conference team (minus Giannis).

Miami Heat: Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Andre Iguodala, Duncan Robinson 2021 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

For my Bam Adebayo analysis please scroll down to read whatever the hell I’m going to write about Pascal Siakam.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Okogie, Jarrett Culver and whatever draft picks they didn’t give Golden State for Giannis

Karl-Anthony Towns for Giannis is the closest straight up player for player trade that Milwaukee could get out of this. KAT wants to leave Minnesota because everyone wants to leave Minnesota and he has previously been voted on by GMs as the No. 1 player they’d want to build a team around.

New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Jrue Holliday 2020, 2021 First Round Draft Picks for Giannis and George Hill

Poor Lonzo Ball. Drafted to his dream organization and then out of a cannon to New Orleans because LeBron James arrived and didn’t like him. Now he’s in Milwaukee which is the opposite of Chino Hills.

The one positive for the Pelicans, besides, ya know, acquiring Giannis, is that Brandon Ingram is a restricted free agent so they can match whatever offer he gets and team him up with Giannis.

New York Knicks: RJ Barrett, Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Frank Ntilikina, Bobby Portis, 2020, 2020 LAC, 2021 First Round Draft Picks

Shrug. This isn’t nothing but this certainly isn’t good enough for Giannis. The man will have multiple MVP trophies and nonstop All-NBA honors when his career is done. Kevin Knox will be out of the league in two years. Milwaukee broke their phone hanging up too quickly.

Oklahoma City Thunder: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Terrence Ferguson, Steven Adams, Hamidou Diallo All of the Clippers First Round Draft Picks and also all of theirs as well for Giannis

Currently staring at this Thunder roster and cannot wrap my head around their success this season. Is Chris Paul really that good? If so, he and Giannis are going to win championships until CP3’s paralyzed body is scooped off the hardwood.

If Milwaukee is genuinely afraid that Giannis isn’t resigning, Oklahoma City can send them every first round draft pick for the next half decade. They won’t be lottery picks but the Bucks pick without Giannis will absolutely be in the lottery and they could use their draft assets to trade up even higher.

Orlando Magic: Aaron Gordon, Markelle Fultz, Mo Bomba, Jonathan Isaac, 2020, 2021, 2022 First Round Draft Picks for Giannis and Brook Lopez

This trade depends on how you feel about former No. 1 overall draft pick, Markelle Fultz. If you truly believe you’re getting the dynamic perimeter scorer from Washington University then this could be a true steal and a huge knock of the Sixers organization.

Philadelphia 76ers: Ben Simmons, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, 2021, 2022 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

Ben Simmons can do everything that Giannis can do except he is forced to play point guard because the Sixers front office refuses to acquire a starting guard that can make plays like the Bucks have with Eric Bledsoe.

Ben can be unleashed when Joel Embiid isn’t sitting in the paint. They cannot space the floor together and they are constantly getting in each other’s way and accidentally bringing their defenders down for double teams. Unleash Ben Simmons in Milwaukee and let’s see how many MVPs he can rattle off.

Phoenix Suns: Ricky Rubio, DeAndre Ayton, Ty Jerome, √Člie Okobo, Mikal Bridges, Kelly Oubre, 2020, 2021, 2022 First Round Draft Picks for Giannis and Robin Lopez

Admittedly, I’ve lost the point of this exercise.

Portland Trailblazers: CJ McCollum, Zach Collins, Anfernee Simmons, Nassir Little, Mario Hezonja, 2020, 2021 First Round Picks for Giannis and George Hill

Upon further review, the Blazers actually have a lot of trade chips depending on how teams evaluate the potential of guys like Zach Collins, Anfernee Simmons and Nassir Little. I’m fairly high on them but we all know that Carmelo makes everyone around him better and his 8 championship rings are a testimate to that.

Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley, Harrison Barnes, Jabari Parker, 2020, 2021 First Round Draft Picks

I’m not entirely sure what the Kings lack outside of just older veterans who have been there done that. The problem is either coaching or just being stuck in a Western Conference and having to play the Warriors four times a year but this team cannot win as currently constructed.

Buddy Hield can stay and be the new Khris Middleton while Jabari gets to return to the Bucks where he played his first four years in the NBA averaging 15.3 points on 49% shooting. Did you know Jabari is only 25 years old and has already played for five teams? Yike.

San Antonio Spurs: I don’t care.

I don’t care about the Spurs. Nope. Not here. Keep it moving.

Toronto Raptors: Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Norman Powell 2021 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

The Toronto Raptors are one of the teams rumored to be seriously interested in acquiring Giannis so this trade might not be too far from reality. Pascal Siakam is the perfect rising star to be the centerpiece of this deal as Milwaukee could plug him into Giannis’s role and they wouldn’t really have to alter their game strategies too much.

Utah Jazz: Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert (lol), Royce O’Neal and 2022 First Round Draft Pick for Giannis

Donovan Mitchell’s scoring and Rudy Gobert’s DPOY talent might equal one Giannis. Just love the idea of Donovan Mitchell demanding a trade to get away from Gobert because he recklessly gave him Coronavirus only to be traded WITH Gobert.

Washington Wizards: Bradley Beal, Rui Hachimura, Jerome Robinson, 2020, 2021, 2020 First Round Draft Picks for Giannis

This is one of the worst fake trades and I don’t believe Beal’s 30 points per game this season is sustainable and the Bucks would be trading the potential Defensive Player of the Year in exchange for Beal’s inability to stay in front of ANY ballhandler.

Rui Hachimura could be good? I don’t know. This Wizards season was not conducive to predictive future outcomes. The Clippers chose Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over Jerome Robinson and they were absolutely correct. Man, this deal stinks. John Wall and Giannis? 38 wins.
