Coming To America Sequel in Production

A sequel to Eddie Murphy’s classic 1988 comedy Coming to America is confirmed to be in the works at Paramount, which has hired original writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield to pen a new Murphy vehicle, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.

Kevin Misher is producing COMING TO AMERICA 2, and plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps.

As an Eddie Murphy fan this is huge news. Pretty much every movie he’s in is lame or weird or for little dumb children. Coming to America was the first (and probably only) Eddie Murphy that I can I say is objectively a classic.

Hopefully this isn’t some weird reboot starring Kevin Hart or whatever. I need Eddie Murphy back to being funny and playing every character and not making fart jokes. Let’s actually bring back the gawd in his best role ever.

I know I just sounded super excited, as someone who just watched the new Ghostbusters movie, Hollywood is going to ruin this movie and it’s going to be trash regardless of whether or not Eddie Murphy is involved.

Can’t wait.
