Free-agent guard Derrick Rose has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, league sources told The Vertical.
Rose met with the Cavaliers on Monday and committed to a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal, league sources told The Vertical. Rose plans to have dinner with new Cavs general manager Koby Altman on Monday night and sign a contract on Tuesday, league sources said.
Kyrie Irving who? After a week of rumors that Irving has demanded a trade from the Cavaliers, Cleveland has stepped up and acquired their insurance policy. It’s a real fickle league. One second, you’re dropping 30 points a night in the NBA Playoffs and the next second, Derrick Rose is using your locker and no one remembers your name.
As a New York Knicks fan, I love that Derrick Rose is no longer a free agent because if another day went by with Rose available means that New York was going to find a way to bring him back to Madison Square Garden where he can ignore open players and drive to the basket full speed with no control and slam the ball off the backboard.
Rose will most likely be coming off the bench to start the season which means that Cleveland has the best back up backcourt in the NBA with Rose and the GAWD, Jose Calderon combining forces. Pray for NBA defenses that have to stop Kyrie and JR Smith only to then face Calderon and D-Rose right after.
