Last season, Oklahoma finished 12-2 and ended the year by getting bounced from the College Football Playoffs by Alabama. They made the Final Four and most notibly, they had the Heisman Trophy winner, Kyler Murray.
Kyler Murray completed 69% (nice) of his passes for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. Far better numbers than the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma starting quaterback, Baker Mayfield.
Heading into 2019, Oklahoma had redshirt sophomore, Austin Kendall, who sounds like an upcoming Disney actor/pop star, as their QB1. But based off Lincoln Riley’s recent track record, if anyone can turn a
Enter Jalen Hurts.
There have been plenty of criticisms of Hurts’s game and how it won’t translate to the next level but as far as college football goes, Hurts has a 26-2 record at Alabama. Sure, he never had the deep bombs and down the
Two seasons ago when he was the QB1 at Bama, Hurts rushed for 981 yards and 8 touchdowns. That’s only 20 less yards than Kyler Murray just had in his Heisman season.
Kyler Murray should be preparing for the minor leagues right now but instead, Lincoln Riley fucked around and made him the No. 1 overall pick. If anyone was uncertain about Hurts’s NFL future, just wait until he wins the 2019 Heisman and the Miami Dolphins take him with the first pick next year.
But can Jalen Hurts and Lincoln Riley finally stop Alabama and Clemson?
Clemson? no. Lincoln Riley may be an offensive genius but Dabo Swinney is walking into the homes of every great high school 5-star recruit and walking out with a stomach full of home cooking and a signed acceptance letter. Clemson has guys 5 times the size of any other player on any other team. There is HGH in the water over there.
But beating Alabama? It’s possible. After watching Clemson dick slap them around in the title game, I am 1000% ready for not only the end of the Alabama dynasty but the storyline of Jalen Hurts returning to his old home and burning it to the ground. As it was written.
