Selma Blair, who co-starred with Diaz, 45, in 2002’s “The Sweetest Thing,” revealed the blond beauty is done with movies for good.
“I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing about the film,” Blair, 45, told Metro News in an interview released Sunday. “I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting, she’s like, ‘I’m done.’ I mean, she doesn’t need to make any more films, she has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back. She’s happy.”
Diaz, who hasn’t appeared in a feature film since 2014’s back-to-back flops “Sex Tape” and “Annie,” previously spoke about why she took a step away from Hollywood.
“I just went, ‘I can’t really say who I am to myself,’” she said in June 2017 panel. “Which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole.”
Well this is heartbreaking. Mainly because I did not realize that Cameron Diaz hadn’t starred in a movie since 2014 and those movies were straight trash. In fact, when you look back at her career, it would appear as though her best movie is Shrek. Which is fine. I love(d) Shrek. But like, there isn’t a close second place. Shrek 2?
Remember the good ol’ days where people could just be ‘movie stars’ and no one cared about the quality of your film or performance? The Tom Cruise effect which is ironic considering how many times Cameron Diaz shared the big screen with Tommy C. Now you have to like, be good at acting or whatever. LAME.
I will never forget Cameron Diaz’s best role in Vanilla Sky shouting ‘I SWALLOWED YOUR CUM’ before driving off a bridge. That scene is the reason why I always text back after a date. I’m not trying to wake up in the future to Kurt Russell telling me that I murdered someone. I’ll be honest, I still have no idea what happened in Vanilla Sky. Shout out to Penelope Cruz though.
Anyway, we’re all going to miss Cameron Diaz.
