There were rumors going around about a catcher swap with the Miami Marlins for JT Realmuto and for some strange reason, all Yankees fans weren’t protesting outside of the stadium to prevent what would have been the dumbest trade in baseball history.
Yes, Gary Sanchez had a miserable 2018 season. He bat .186 and was pretty much an automatic out every time he stepped up to the plate. He also led all catchers in passed balls. Defensively, he’s one of the worst players in the sport.
But fuck defense.
Offense wins championships and Gary Sanchez provides offense. My man had 53 RBIs in just 89 games and I will never forget 2016 when he emerged from the clouds and hit 20 bombs in just 53 games. There is no other catcher in the league putting up his slugging numbers.
Sanchez had shoulder surgery and will be back in 2019 better than ever. I don’t want to see or hear JT Realmuto’s dumb name ever again. It’s blasphemy to put these two in the same sentence. How dare you?
El Gary is going to win the MVP trophy, or at the very least split votes with Aaron Judge, and we will pretend like YOU people didn’t want to trade him.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Gary Sanchez could win the MVP award next season. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
