The Los Angeles Clippers reportedly traded superstar forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons on Monday in exchange for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a protected first-round pick and a 2019 second-round selection, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Per Wojnarowski, the protections on the first-round pick will be, “2018: 1-4; 2019: 1-4; 2020: 1-4; 2021: unprotected.” He added that the Pistons would also receive Brice Johnson and Willie Reed.
The Clippers may not be done there, however—Wojnarowski reported that the Clippers “will continue to pursue packages of young players and picks in talks for DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams.”
Did anyone even know that Blake Griffin was on the trading block? Over the summer, Griffin signed a 5-year/$171 million contract in the offseason. He was supposed to be the star of the Los Angeles Clippers in a post-Chris Paul world. He was the chosen one, Anakin.
Blake Griffin seems like a real piece of shit. Last season he broke his hand punching the equipment manager’s face off. Last week he was kicked out of a game for hitting Houston Rockets head coach, Mike D’Antoni on the sidelines. Then he threw a basketball at a ref from the length of the court and then said ‘it’s not my fault the referee can’t catch’.
Real asshole.
The Clippers have probably quietly been trying to trade Blake from the second he signed that 5-year deal and Stan Van Gundy was dumb enough to accept this trade.
The Pistons desperately need shooters so naturally they traded away Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley, their most reliable shooters.
The Pistons desperately need perimeter defense, so naturally they traded away Tobias Harris and Avery Bradly, their most reliable perimeter defenders.
This is why I love NBA trades. Both teams lose and the league gets more interesting. The Pistons currently sit 9th in the Eastern Conference standings and they are 3 games behind the 8th seed 76ers. This Blake Griffin trade almost ensures that they will remain out of the playoffs for the rest of time.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think this Blake Griffin Detriot Pistons move will end in disaster. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
