“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
So when I first read this story I was disappointed. I think it’s safe to say that Ben Affleck’s Batman was the only good thing about Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Having him direct the solo Batman movie made the most sense. He clearly cares about the character.
Then after about 3 seconds I remember that Ben Affleck is just Ben Affleck and he’s not the greatest director in the world. Argo was fine or whatever but I don’t know why I tricked myself into thinking that Affleck was going to save DC. As long as Zack Snyder doesn’t jump into direct this movie, it’s really not a big deal.
Honestly, this movie is probably better off without having a director with a huge chip on his shoulder. Just get someone young who likes Batman. Done. I just solved all of DC’s problems. Thank me later.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Affleck would’ve made an amazing Batman movie. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
