Baker Mayfield is the Best Quarterback in the NFL and No One Can Tell Me Otherwise

Baker Mayfield finally received his chance to play in an NFL game and proved on Thursday night after a 21-17 win over the New York Jets, that he is the best quarterback in the NFL.

Now, before praise is given to Mayfield, we must first tip our cap to Tyrod Taylor. Heading into the 2018 season, he might have been the most underrated QB in the league. He was never great by any real statistical measure but he is a former Pro Bowler and he led the awful Bills to the playoffs last season.

He was the king of never turning the ball over and he could rush for 100 yards seemingly whenever he felt like it. And with all that nice stuff out of the way, Tyrod Taylor has been straight trash this season and it’s safe to say that the Cleveland Browns would be 3-0 right now if literally any other quarterback not named ‘Peterman‘ was their starting quarterback.

In 9 quarters of football, Taylor is completing less than 50% of his passes with only 462 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Ryan Fitzpatrick had those passing yards in Week 1 alone. Just 2 touchdowns?! Patrick Mahomes would be sick. That second quarter concussion saved the Browns season and honestly, saved the NFL.

Enter Baker Mayfield.

*shouts at top of lungs* THAT’S MY QB1.

Baker Mayfield stepped onto the field and the Browns suddenly became the best team in football. After being down 14-0, Mayfield put Cleveland on his back with 17-for-23 passing for 201 yards and he caught that 2-point conversation which already makes him a better wide receiver than Tom Brady.

Mayfield picked apart the New York Jets defense making throws in tight windows that for some guys (Sam Darnold) would result in interceptions. He marched up and down the field would ease including a perfect throw deep to Jarvis Landry. What a beaut.

Cleveland went 635 days without winning a football game.

Well, until Baker Mayfield went out there and proved that he deserves to be the starter for the remainder of the season. They should probably prepare an entire hallway in the Hall of Fame for Baker’s arrival.

Sidenote: Real quick, if your reaction to Cleveland fans going wild after this win is ‘relax, it’s not like you guys won the Super Bowl’, you are a spoiled fool. How spoiled we are as sports fans to root for teams that win games.

Cleveland fans don’t have the luxury of a Sunday afternoon celebration after watching their team record a victory. 635 days since their last win. Let Browns fans live. All hail king, Baker.
