So I was going to do a top 7 albums of the year but then I remembered that I only listen to rap and I’m still not quite sure what Beyonce’s Lemonade sounds like. I know Becky had good hair but that’s where my knowledge of that album begins and ends.
I want to say immediately, Views sucked and will not be on this list. Sure, when One Dance came out, it was Grind Time Live. Having said that, when was the last time you sat down and just listened to Views beginning to end? Never? It sucks. No.
Here are the real 7 best rap albums of the year:
7. A Tribe Called Quest – We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service
This album came out of the clouds and had probably the best tracks out of any other album on this list. I was never really a Tribe guy growing up. I basically only listened to Cam’Ron and Juelz but that’s neither here nor there. Point is, I found Tribe late and I respect the art more now than I ever would have when I wore a younger man’s clothes.
To be honest, this album may be better than the 7th spot buuuut I have to penalize them for not having a single Young Thug verse. It’s 2016, I can’t listen to an album unless Young Thug is yell-singing at least one hook. Don’t mean to be a music snob. I love Andre 3000’s verse on Kids but I just have certain standards.
