The 2019-20 New York Knicks can make the playoffs. *hits bowl* trust me man, the Knicks can make the playoffs. Obviously, this team doesn’t necessarily need to make the postseason as they are in the midst of a rebuild and have financially set themselves up to potentially hunt for superstar free agents next summer after Durant and Kyrie signed a blood pact with some Park Slope realtor.
But anyway, here are 5 ways the 2019-20 New York Knicks can make the playoffs:
It feels like the New York Knicks have never had more than like, 6 good basketball players on their team at once and now they currently have a strange amount of depth. Wayne Ellington and Reggie Bullock could start on 50% of the teams in this league and they’ll be scratching and clawing for playing time over Allonzo Trier and Damyean Dotson.
2. Bash Brothers
Remember when LeBron was being a dick to Frank Ntilikina a couple of years back and Enes Kanter pretended to get in his face knowing damn well he wasn’t going to do a thing about it? Yea uh, Marcus Morris would be swinging before LeBron even realized he did something wrong.
3. RJ Barrett SZN
RJ Barrett was the No. 1 prospect coming out of high school. There were stories about teams tanking for him years before he was even eligible for the draft. I’m not saying that RJ is about to become the best player in the NBA but, ya know, at least Top 5.
4. Mitch DPOY
Mitchell Robinson is sneaky the best player on this basketball team and with a full rookie season under his belt, he is ready to fulfill his destiny and become the Defensive Player of the Year.
Is he going to win that trophy next season? No, definitely not. But is he going to get votes? Absolutely. He’s about to make so many ESPN Top 10 Plays. He’s about to be a superstar. He’s Rudy Gobert but, ya know, not playing in an arena where fans call Russell Westbrook the n-word.
5. The Eastern Conference
Let’s not forget how weak the Eastern Conference is with all of the stars heading to the West. The Knicks can finish below .500 and still make the playoffs as a 7th seed.
Toronto is finished. Kyle Lowry is the best player on the Raptors. HAHAHAHA. The Orlando Magic won 42 games last year and everyone was shocked. They did not improve their roster in any way. The Knicks did.
The Detroit Pistons added Derrick Rose. Laugh out loud.
