Back in March, Jose Calderon was just minding his business being a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, until they decided to waive him.
The Golden State Warriors decided to pick him up, but Kevin Durant suffered a possible season-ending knee injury shortly after and the team felt they needed a taller player to fill Durant’s role. The team wanted Matt Barnes to fill that role, but instead of just not signing Calderon, the Warriors signed him, then waived him two hours later.
Calderon made $415,000 for his 119 minutes as a member of the team. That’s $207,500 per hour.
Jose Calderon is my favorite NBA player of all time and now this just solidifies his legacy as the GOAT. My man is out here cashing checks and winning rings without even stepping on the court. I want/need an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about this legendary season.
The worst day of my life was when the New York Knicks traded Calderon to the Chicago Bulls for Derrick Rose. Now Calderon helped Golden State win a title and Derrick Rose just randomly doesn’t show up to games without telling anyone. Egg all over Phil Jackson’s withered face.
Now Jose Calderon enters rarefied air. Patrick Ewing: 0 rings. Charles Barkley: 0 rings. John Stockton: o rings. Jose Calderon: 1 ring. It’s Jose Calderon’s world and we’re all just lucky enough to live in it.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Jose Calderon is the greatest NBA player of all time. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
