FXX is working on an animated series for Marvel’s “Deadpool,” which will be created by Donald Glover and Stephen Glover, Variety has learned.
The untitled show has been given a straight-to-series order, with a 10-episode first season expected to debut in 2018.
“Atlanta” creator and Golden Globe winner Donald Glover and his brother, “Atlanta” staff writer Stephen Glover, will serve as showrunners, executive producers and writers of the series. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are executive producers. The untitled series is produced by Marvel Television in association with FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios for FXX.
Here is the good news about this story, Deadpool is the most unique character in comic books and one movie and every year does not fill the void. At a time when every comic book property is almost identical to the last, Deadpool is a much needed breath of fresh air.
More good news, Donald Glover and his brother are in charge so you know it’s going to be fire emoji and not some lame cartoon made for children that won’t understand it. I trust the Glover’s with all of the comedic properties in the game.
But here’s the bad news, I want more Atlanta.1 That may be one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and I’d rather see these two working on a second season instead of working on Deadpool. Deadpool is cool or whatever but I’m okay with Ryan Reynolds doing that and Donald Glover sticking with Atlanta.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think this Donald Glover Deadpool series will be fire emoji. Also, go ahead and throw Deaderiousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
